Floriana F.C. and Melita F.C. delivered an exciting spectacle in their 360Sport Malta Premier League opening match, ending in a dramatic 3-3 draw at the Tony Bezzina Stadium.
Melita F.C. made a strong start, taking the lead early in the 8th minute. Aldair Simanca rose above the Floriana F.C. defense to powerfully head in a well-placed corner, putting his team ahead. Melita F.C. extended their advantage in the 37th minute when Andre Carlos found the back of the net from close range.
Floriana F.C. responded just before halftime, with Carlo Zammit Lonardelli reducing the lead in the 40th minute. This goal was set up by a brilliant move from Thiaguinho, giving Floriana momentum heading into the break.
In the second half, Floriana F.C. continued to press and were rewarded in the 64th minute when Kyrian Nwoko levelled the score with a precise low shot after a pass from Dunstan Vella. Just six minutes later, Floriana completed their comeback as Mattia Veselji found the net, putting his side in the lead for the first time.
The match reached its climax in the 94th minute when Melita F.C. captain Jean Pierre Attard scored a dramatic last-gasp equalizer, ensuring both teams shared the points after an intense fought encounter.
Despite dominating possession and creating numerous chances, Floriana F.C. could not secure all three points against a determined Melita side, and the match ended in a shared draw.
